MILLER’S BOHEMIAN TALES HAVE AUDIENCE IN RHAPSODY

Singer songwriter Nick Miller, a landscape architect at Capita Symonds’ Blackburn office, has donated all profits from the sale of his debut album - War of the Roses - to the Saint Francis House Children’s Hospice in Manchester.

Nick’s album - which has been earning plaudits from local music critics - was promoted during a ‘Live (in our) Lounge’ tour, a series of intimate gigs in Nick’s own living room which were attended by 225 people.

As a result of Nick’s innovative approach, the album has already raised £900 which was increased to £1500 thanks to a donation from Capita Group

Nick commented: “I wanted to raise money for St. Francis House in memory of my late uncle Francis. It's a very worthy charity offering care and comfort to children in tragic situations in Manchester.”

Fundraising is ongoing and all profit from sales of the album will continue to go to St. Francis House which offers the families of very sick children a respite from their role as carers and gives the children a loving home from home.

The Critics say…

  • "Thoughtful, poignant and often deeply moving........ 'She’s A Siren' is a spaghetti western soundtrack for the Lancashire hills, 'Crompton’s Mule' drives and drills the most tender and restrained of punches, 'Glow' swells and gleams with gentle glory, and the appropriately subtitled 'Falter (The Torch Song)' delivers one of the most understated and elegant duets you’ll hear all year...... you end up with an album that is genuinely startling and subtly beguiling." BBC Manchester
  • "A touching 10 track paean to loss,.... bolstered by stripped down arrangements that drag the listener into the room, that make the song s all the more striking....If you let it, War Of The Roses could both warm and break your heart 4 /5" City Life
  • "This isn’t just another bloke with an acoustic guitar.....painstakingly rich arrangements, carefully layered with guitars, keys and harmonies. Nick Miller seeks the spectacular, without ever being melodramatic...making this the perfect song for cold winter nights. MMMM ½''Manchestermusic.co.uk
  • "Beautiful, delicate love songs, their rich voices blending over flowing finger-picking. They have a warm, sleepy folky country sound reminiscent of Mojave 3 at their prettiest." MM Un-Electric Circus
